Bratislava, 18th of September, 2002

14th of September, 2002 at 15:00 the third streetparty took place in the space next to Bus station Mlynské Nivy.

Public gathering next to Bus station Mlynské Nivy was notified properly and all of the conditions for its organization were satisfied. Some of the media and even police affirmed sovereignly, that the gathering is forbidden. This shows weak are knowledges about law of some journalists, but mainly of police.

If the gathering was forbidden by law, our constitutional laws would be broken and our lawyer would be solving it. Nothing like that happened anyway.

Some people from Czech republic was about to come. They notified destination of their route at the border. Slovak police refused to let them cross the border, affirming that they are going to meet the "forbidden action" and that police is doing this because of orders of police corpse's presidnet. The action was not forbidden and so it was act of conditioning of entry to the territory of SR.

Notified gathering was monitored by several civil-worn policemen, that filmed and took pictures of parttakers secretly. First they was, word for word, hidden in the trees and then it was unable to recognize them from journalists. Just after direct question they legitimized themselves by the badge of crime police. This way police shows, that they regard the parttakers of properly notified gathering as dangerous ones and wants to keep records of them. But this action was done to adress all the people, so evidence and filming is at least strange. Police is doing this second year in a row and is dicouraging people to show their opinions.

Absolutely unlogically, policemen displaced people out of the Šafárik's place where they was passing by glass shopwindows, but the target of parttakers was to continue to the SNP bridge, not thorugh the Old city. But approx. 100 meters from SNP Bridge a pre-votings (pre-electoral) meeting of governing party SDKU with prime minister of Slovak government took place. As the Streetparty is non-conflict expression of opinions, the reason was probably the fear of hearing opponent's voice on a pre-voting agitation. In spite of police, many times not defending the shopwindows, nobody threatened any property. This really shown, that the parttakers came here to show their opinions in peace and not to make conflincts. Despite of that many policemen handled with parttakers very roughly.

An interview with organizers was prepared by editor of Slovak radio(SRo) a few days before action, but it was censored as soon as the chief editor heard of it. It was reasoned that it could influence the elections, some of parties could complain and SRo could be fined. This happened in the time, when SRo waged a campaign about objectivity of its information.

Main topic is admission of Slovak into NATO. NATO is military part of the system, which plunders Earth and its inhabitants, system, which tries to deplete all natural resources today and doesn`t take into account future needs and ecological limits. Through Street party we want to show our radical rejection with propagandistic admission of Slovak into Nato and with its existence at all.

Next week there will be held imposing spectacle. It`s name is election. Politicians are competing among themselves with promising people better tomorow, with reapeting vague sayings and stupid slogans. Representative democracy doesn`t give people opportunity to make freedom decision about their life, because only parliament a government - small group of people, who are elected by people every four years - has power to determine course of the country. After election voters don`t have right to influence activities of their representatives /members of parliament and government/, to withdraw them and replace them.

Programs of political parties are inferior, more important is image and ability to sell yourself at market. Real decision about our future are made not at national level, but in headquarters of transnational corporations and international economic institution.

Only chance for politicians –if they want to keep their positions and little power, which leave them – is therefore further development of capitalism – economic growth, privatization, exploiting of workers and ecological destruction. If we drop voting paper into ballot-box we show that we consider these jurks capable experts and our legitimate representatives. We show that we resign to overtake control of our life into our hands. If election could change something it would be forbidden long ago.

Due to our bad experience with media and  breaking the law from side of police we consider important to emphasize following things:

1. Street party joins political protest with fun
2. Participants of street party are not antiglobalist, because this name is meanigless
3. Participants do not form group of people with same opinion
4. Participants do not claim, that their opinions, attitudes lifestyle are only right one
5. Most of the participants are people, who want to show their opinion peacfully, they are not intrested in conflicts
6. Anarchists are not agressive window-breakers or cubblestone-throwers
7. Participants are not drug addicts and alcoholics
8. Participants do not want to fight with police
9. Participants are people, who try to present their opinions and to organise themselves to support their ideas instead of individual passive attitude, which means doing nothing
10. Street party is public meeting according to constitution of Slovak republic and gathering act

“www.streetparty.sk” collective create space for presenting opinions. Form and process of Street party will depend on participants. We will try to keep action calm. We are not intrested in violent conflicts and property destruction. Spontaneous activity of participants can lead to march across the streets of Bratislava which organisers are not responsible for.

We will not tolerate any kind of propaganda of bolshevist and political parties.

Street party is financed by voluntary contributions of organisers. “www.streetparty.sk” collective is unformal opened group of people, which does not have hierarchical structure and decisions are being made by consensus.

We fulfil all legel matters and we notified action in authorized office.
